Awareness of Breath Meditation

The awareness of breath meditation focuses on the breath as an anchor to the present moment. The breath is always with us. We don’t need to think about it, or control it, thank goodness. Practicing the cultivation of mindfulness of the breath helps us to develop and strengthen that present moment awareness in the rest of our lives.

Whenever we notice that our attention has been pulled away by a thought, sound, or body sensation, we gently, and without judgment, return our attention to the breath, to the present moment. This is mind training and it can help us live fuller, healthier lives.
